2nd SGRI Conference

The SGRI Conference brought together prominent scholars, leading practitioners, judges, regulators and policymakers from several jurisdictions around the world. The conference was divided into seven panels that included: (i) comparative insolvency law; (ii) cross-border insolvency; (iii) distressed M&A; (iv) insolvency law in emerging markets; (v) insolvency law and new technologies; (vi) valuation and financial issues in corporate reorganisation; (vii) arbitration and insolvency. The conference started with a keynote address from Professor Jared Ellias from Harvard Law School and concluded with another keynote speech delivered by the Honourable Robert Drain, recently retired from the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The event also saw the launch of Prof. Aurelio Gurrea-Martinez's new book, "Reinventing Insolvency Law in Emerging Economies" published by Cambridge University Press.

SGRI Inaugural Conference

The opening speech was delivered by Mr Edwin Tong SC, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law. The keynote speaker was the Honourable Justice Christopher Sontchi (Singapore International Commercial Court). The conference consisted of a 2-day event that put together prominent insolvency experts from 17 jurisdictions and 6 continents with the purpose of discussing some of the most relevant topics and challenges in corporate restructuring and insolvency, including insolvency and ADR, insolvency law and new technologies, cross-border insolvency, enterprise group insolvency, MSEs and insolvency, valuation and financial issues in corporate reorganisations, creditor protection in insolvency, regulation and remuneration of insolvency practitioners, and insolvency law in emerging economies, among others.
